Kids Dummy Roping

Kids can test their rodeo skills in the Kids Dummy Roping competition – a safe, on foot event designed just for young cowhands!

Using ropes and a stationary dummy cattle head, participants will be divided into age groups (4 – 6, 7 – 9, and 10 – 12 years old) and compete in a progressive reach format. Everyone starts at a set distance and each time they make a legal catch, they move farther back. To be a legal catch, it must catch both horns. (slick horns or neck only) Only one horn, head loop off or miss completely and you’re out!

Judges will be watching for proper catches, and safety is a top priority. No swinging ropes near others, stay behind the throw line and younger participants should have a parent nearby.

It’s a friendly competition, Western tradition, and tons of fun for kids getting ready to rope like the pros!
